Okay, Kevin

Tucked into a tight plane leaving Oregon, we heard the pilot over the loudspeaker say, “The doors can be sealed and you can prepare for takeoff, Kevin.”; to which our toddler promptly retorted, “Okaaaay, Kevin!” Miles and I looked at each other with a giggle, and with that we were off.

Our first day of flying proved to be more graceful than we expected. Even with our numerous suitcases and our revolving baggies of snacks, we were encouraged by the number of people who stopped to admire our children or who offered to help us roll our belongings off of the plane. Our baby, we learned, is particularly flirtatious with other Asian women, and his charm seemed to balance out the intermittent screaming.

On our second flight, we were relieved to be seated next to another family with a baby. We settled into the pleasant surprise of both of our children sleeping well on the plane and through the airport as we exited. As soon as we arrived  in our room for the night, I saw two little brown eyes peering up at me in the dark, and another hour of strategic playing ensued.
